About the event
Most people are aware that horses are a lot of work. That being said if you love them it doesn't feel like work. They are not simple animals to care for and if you own a horse, you spend more time caring for them then you do riding them. This class is designed to cover everything non-riding.
Our class will meet weekly for 7 weeks starting Tuesday Sep.10th from 10:30-12. Each week will cover a different horse subject focused on what goes into caring for a horse. We will have hands on and classroom opportunities. This is not a riding class but we will be working closely with the horses to groom, learn how to halter and lead a horse safely, as well as basic leading exercises. We will cover basic nutrition, first aid, anatomy, stable care, colors and markings, herd behavior and any other subject that may come up. Students will receive folders with handouts and information covering our time together.
We will be outdoors and safe shoes are required, boots are best but closed toe shoes are an absolute must. Dress for the weather and bring water.
